Unsigned bands- Win A Chance To Play Field Day Festival With The Quietus

Awesome music site The Quietus is holding a competition for unsigned bands to enter, for the chance to play at Field Day Festival.
To enter the competition – you will need to go here. Although Blue Whale Studios has nothing to do with the competition, other than being asked to post something about it, expect us to take full credit if a Birmingham band wins. Check out more details below….

Gruff Ryhs & Tony Da Gattorra - your band could share the bill with these loons

As you might know, The Quietus is hosting the Village Mentality stage at this year’s Field Day Festival in London’s Victoria Park. Our stage is the place where you’ll be coming for the good noggin-twisting sounds as we’ve got Mouse On Mars, Silver Apples, Amiina, Esben & The Witch, Max Tundra, Flower Corsano Duo, Beth Jeans Houghton and Gruff Rhys’ deeply terrifying new project with Tony Da Gattorra.

And, excitingly, we’ve got a live slot spare to open proceedings on July 31st and we want your band to fill it.

Basically if you fancy playing our stage all you have to do is send in some music which will be listened to by Bad Cop (Luke) and Even Worse Cop (John). After we have chosen our favourite Necrotic Black Metal Tuvan Throat Singing Industrial Glo Fi act out of all of the demos, then we’ll invite that group to open The Quietus stage on the Saturday morning.

You will get VIP passes for chums, a tasty rider and, of course, the success and acclaim that can surely only come after being blessed by the mighty palm of the Quietus. (“Just ask Dead Skeletons, Gnaw Their Tongues and Teeth Of The Sea how their lives have been irrevocably improved by this mighty accolade”, says John.) We’re accepting submissions from all unsigned bands, though if you’ve had a few hundred cheap 7″ pressed on a tiny label we won’t hold it against you.

Closing date June 18th, no exceptions. And, please, dear god, if you’ve just decided to get over your girlfriend recently leaving you by recording lots of singer/songwritery acoustic guitar accompanied ‘freak’ folk please mark your entries ‘Delete Immediately Without Listening’.
